Summary

Phi Beta Sigma
Fraternity, Inc., an international organization of college and professional men, was
founded in 1914 at Howard University and has as its 3 principles: BROTHERHOOD,
SCHOLARSHIP, AND SERVICE. These principles are exhibited in the motto "Culture for
Service and Service for Humanity." Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. has a membership
of over 110,000 with 650 chapters throughout the continental United States, Switzerland
and Africa.
The
Southern Region consists of Sigma Men dedicated to enhancing and promoting
systematic fellowship, African American freedom, justice, equal rights, and
service to our communities. Being a community service organization, the Southern
Region of Phi Beta Sigma has many outstanding programs. The three National
Programs are SOCIAL ACTION, EDUCATION, and BIGGER & BETTER BUSINESS. These
programs exist on the regional, state, and local level as well. In order to
implement these and other programs, the Southern Region of Phi Beta Sigma works
with organizations such as: The National Pan Hellenic Council, The NAACP,
The American Cancer Society, The National Urban League, Big Brothers/Big
Sisters, The March of Dimes Birth Defect Foundation, and The National Boys and
Girls Clubs of America. The Southern Region of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Inc. is concerned, involved and continuously takes a leading role in meeting the
needs of our communities and neighborhoods.
